Violins?

I'm a people person. LOVE to photograph people. They smile, they laugh, they get married, they run OFF my backdrops when I'm trying to photograph them. But I still love 'em. Violins on the other hand don't do much but look pretty. Here's a few from my 'violin' session today.

Reggie and his posse.

It's official. Reggie has managed to BREAK our little bird-feeder. I'll post some pictures of it tomorrow but his fat, little you-know-what tore it down off it's post. It was a matter of time. I know it's him that broke it because he's the ONLY one dumb enough to climb up the pole. The other two raccoons just wait for Reggie to drop some seed. Greg has refused to put any more seed in it. The poor birds were pecking at the bird-feeder as it lay helpless, empty on the ground. He's fast too...I tried to get another shot of him last night and he almost landed on his buddy underneath the bird-feeder when he jumped off, trying to run away. All that seed he ate..I'm surprised he could even walk.

Michelle...

Michelle stopped by for some headshots for her business. But here's the cool thing about her, she didn't want your typical shot. So we had TONS of fun! Here's a few from her session. Oh, and she's TALL! Very TALL.

The Xavier Family

I LOVE the Xavier Family. Every single one of them. But they couldn't keep their hands off each other and they LAUGHED their you-know-what's off the entire time. It was a blast to be with them. Now this..this is what a portrait session is all about. This is what I love to do.

Reggie and his buddy.

I consider myself a pretty animal friendly person. I love to feed the wildlife in my backyard. We think it's cool when we throw out some bread and we get a cute little opposum, the occasional raccoon. But tonight...I caught Reggie (the raccoon - we named him - he likes his new name) and his buddy - eating the birdseed from our birdfeeder. That was fine too until Reggie started to CLIMB up the birdfeeder. Now, mind you, this feeder is one of those flimsy-pole-like feeders that is VERY top heavy when seed is in it. Reggie made his way up the skinny little pole and took a swing from the feeder - grabbing on with all fours - hanging there! His buddy must be familar with Reggie's antics because he acted like it was nothing. His buddy continued to eat the seed from the ground. He did get scared once and climbed up a tree. I guess Reggie wasn't scared because he was busy. I took a picture of Reggie and his buddy before they took off. I scared them a bit with my camera. Not 20 minutes later Reggie was back and up the birdfeeder. His buddy didn't come back this time. Hopefully he found a new, smarter friend to tag along with.

The kids.

I think we all needed a good laugh today. So we headed into the studio, gelled up Blakey and just...laughed.

Scott Barkley

When I graduated from college I had no idea what the 'real' world was about. I mean really. I was young and SO dumb. Anyway, my first TV gig was at Channel 5. I was a sports intern. My friend Joe got me a job there. Oh no wait. I interned there before I graduated for school credits. It was a sucky job. But there was one person who I looked up to there. I admired him. That was Scott Barkley. We went to football games together to shoot highlights. I just stood there and did nothing but he was IT. Everyone at the station loved him. He IS a great photographer (videographer). He was humble, kind and taught me so much about life. I wish I would have stayed in touch with him. Anyway, after I graduated I had two choices..work the news desk or production. Scott told me to pick news desk and I did. That decision..routed me exactly where I wanted to go at the time...he knew. I didn't. Life isn't fair and sometimes it sucks. I found out today Scott died from a brain tumor in 1999. That's not fair. Why didn't I stay in touch? Scott was my friend, my boss, my inspiration. He's the only one I think about when I remember that job. People come and go in life...I wish he would have stayed.

Photo Snow Globes!

My dad would dig this. He's in to snowglobes. One Christmas he gave my daughter like 5 of them he bought at Walgreens. That's one of those presents you 'accidentally' leave at the grandfolks house. Anyway, this is the cewlest thing I found today. DIY snow globes. All you need is two pics, a bottle, glitter, and corn syrup. I think if you used a really cool, old coke bottle of some sort..it would rock.

Valentine Party

Well, with all the snow there was no Valentine Party, no pajama party, no pizza party and no Post Office Visit. At least I thought there wasn't going to be a party but yesterday it was all crammed into one day. I got some cute pics of the kids.

Christian, my buddy. He LOVES having his picture taken.

They made a quilt with their handprints. That's Bea's in the red and Cobi's is in green.

Lindsay..I'm not sure who she is talking to but it can't be good news. :)

Austin, my man! He is the sweetest little kid. He was quiet, generous and cute as a button!

Couldn't you just squeeze the cuteness right out of this kid???

These are some of Bea's friends. She's mentioned them all. I had so much fun with them yesterday. It was such a treat to be able to play, sing, dance and chat with them. They all have their very own personalities. Some are quiet, some are loud, some are too funny and some are just kind and sweet.

This is Cobi. The teacher tells me he has a 'thing' for Bea. He had a mohawk at one point. He didn't say much to me but Bea said he thanked her for his Valentine. I told her she's not allowed to have any boyfriends until she's married.

My Girl Lola!

Lola is just perfect. I absolutely love photographing her. But someday..she'll be rich and famous and forget about lil' ol' me. She's recently been recruited by a modeling agency. How could you go wrong with her? She's SOOO easy to work with and of course, just beautiful - never complained once.

Brrrrrrrr!

Allright, it's cold. My fingers about froze off today but I couldn't miss some shots of the ice. Not just the snow..but the ice - it's beautiful. The way it bends the trees, it trickles down the end of the branches and freezes time. The way it makes every image deeper, darker and mysterious. Here's a few in between 'glove' breaks.

This tree is in my neighbors backyard. It's gorgeous and it's hers. I'm super jealous of this tree. In the fall, it's bright orange leaves are just amazing.

This is normally a paved path. Today, it's covered with snow and ice. The locals went sled-riding down it.

Flowerama!

Allright..who'd have thunk it? You could put eucalyptus and tulips together? But I just LOVE this cute little arrangement Ken & Trudy Rogers put together for me. The second I got it home we had a date in the studio. I couldn't resist - I love photographing flowers! Check them out at www.floweramaflorence.com That's right! I have to support my local NKY'ers!!!

A pic of the tulips and eucalyptus up close.

Lily's too of course!

CU of tulip.

Stripes.

I swear this kid doesn't have one set of pajamas that match. What does it matter??? No one sees him but us!

Thank you!

Just wanted to thank all the lovelies that met with me this weekend to talk wedding talk. Mihyun..what a great time I had with you!! You are so classy and fun! Anne who was just leggy and fabulous swung up from Lexington - can't wait for your wedding day - and engagement session coming up! And Stephanie - she stalked me. :) Okay, not really but she was persistant enough to stick to her guns during a crazy, busy time. LOVE your parents, LOVE your fiance (in a photographer-kind-of-way) and you are just sooo much fun to be around! It must of been a leggy and fabulous day for me..because all three meetings were with super-model babes. Thank you for taking time out of your day to meet with me.
LYMI.

Easy Bake Oven

Don't deny it..you KNOW you had an Easy Bake Oven when you were a kid. We all did. Did you see that the oven's are being recalled?

Here: "Toy manufacturer Hasbro and the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Tuesday recalled 985,000 Easy-Bake toy ovens after finding that kids' fingers can get caught in the oven's opening, thereby posing serious risk of burns. The CPSC said it has received 29 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven's opening, including five reports of burns. The CPSC said consumers should contact Easy-Bake between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET to receive a free retrofit kit with consumer warning. Additionally, consumers can contact Easy-Bake at 800-601-8418, or visit the firm's Web site at www.easybake.com."

Ummm, yeah! We have that one! But our cakes don't look as good as the picture on your right. I seriously think they use a REAL commerical oven to bake the things and then happily pop it into the Easy Bake cake pans and..taaa-daaa! Make it look like your Easy Bake Oven can do THIS! Either way..it's still fun!

My Valentine!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner - don't forget!!!

Happy Birthday Christian!

Bea's buddy from preschool had his birthday party today. He's the big 5! What fun she had! Christian was as adorable as ever and all the kids were just too stinkin' cute! I had to take their picha's. Here's a couple from today:

The birthday boy and Bea sitting on a turtle shell. I made them pose for me..can you tell?

Bea's friend Annalise. Her mother makes the CUTEST kids clothes ever.

Cutie-pa-tootie Joe and Bea operating on a stuffed animal.

The crew. I love pictures like these. There is absolutely no artistic value what-so-ever but man, they are cute! So basic, so silly. Like school mug-shots. Ugly..but you have to have them. The ones you remember when your 80 years old.

Robbie announced he was about to take a huge bite of cake. It all managed to make it in his mouth.

I thought the icing was going to fly off the cake with this blow.
